Joachim Perez is a French/Swiss artist whose practice interrogates the social inscriptions of masculinity, diasporic identity, and repair through textile-based installation. Working primarily with hand embroidery, deconstructed garments and large-format textile structures, his work examines how bodies are shaped by inherited patterns and systems of representation.
Based between Germany and Japan, he approaches material as a site of transformation and inscription. Through processes such as layering, stitching, and distortion, Perez develops a language of soft resistance, where slowness becomes a political stance and memory takes tactile form.
Trained in industrial design at Parsons School of Design in New York, his trajectory reflects a critical shift away from production-oriented logics toward practices rooted in gesture, embodied knowledge, and a nonlinear relation to time. His work has been exhibited internationally, with shows in Germany, Japan, Switzerland, France, Romania, and the United States.
